CEO Of Arizona Facility Resigns After Woman In Vegetative State Gives Birth - Public outrage has forced the CEO of the Arizona facility where a woman in vegetative state gave birth to resign.
Hacienda Healthcare CEO Bill Timmons announced his resignation yesterday and it was unanimously accepted. The female patient was left in a vegetative state after a near drowning 14 years ago. Staff at the private facility in Phoenix that treats chronically ill and disabled patients allegedly didn't know the woman was pregnant until she started moaning.
She gave birth to a healthy baby boy on December 29th. Phoenix Police have launched a sexual assault investigation into the incident that has prompted widespread outrage.
An Arizona state representative is now considering new legislation to allow families to remotely monitor their loved ones with cameras. Louisiana already has such a law in place.
