Spotify Is Getting Sued Over Tom Petty, Weezer, Neil Young Songs

Wixen Music Publishing is going after Spotify. The company has filed a lawsuit in California federal court that alleges that the streaming platform is using Tom Petty's "Free Fallin," the Doors' "Light My Fire," and tens of thousands of other songs without a license and compensation. They want at least $1.6 billion.

What's more, Wixen also wants a judge to force Spotify to remove their songs from the service.  Spotify hasn't responded, but in the meantime here are some of the other artists whose music is hanging in the balance: Zach De La Rocha and Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine, The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach, Steely Dan's Donald Fagen, Weezer's Rivers Cuomo, David Cassidy, Neil Young, Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon, Stevie Nicks, and many more.
