MicroLED TVs Are Coming

Guess what? That cutting edge 64-inch LED TV you just got is about to be one-step closer to the “high tech” of your dad’s eight-track stereo. Okay, it won’t happen for a while, but the future of televisions may have been unveiled by Samsung at CES. The company has created The Wall, a 146-inch MicroLED TV. One industry insider says, “MicroLEDs are manufactured and assembled one sub-pixel at a time. A 4K TV has 25 million sub-pixels that have to be assembled—and they all have to work.” Translation: insane picture quality. The Wall should be available to buy this year, but don’t start digging through your couch cushions just yet. Samsung says it will be offered “at a price consistent with modern technologies as they’re introduced,” which means you’ll probably need to sell a kidney to afford it. Maybe a lung, too. Source: Wired
