A family was on their boat this past weekend when they came upon the battle. After about 30 minutes, the Monkeys started jumping into the river.
These are NOT nice monkeys either. They carry a rare form of Herpes that can be spread to humans and be fatal.
In the 1930's a man released a handful of the monkeys on the island to begin a "theme park" of sorts based of off Tarzan.
The monkeys, rhesus macaques, are very strong swimmers and escaped and have turned into HUNDREDS over the years.
